Begonia cleopatrae

A handsome rhizomatous species from the Philippines, where it grows on shaded limestone on a mountain called Cleopatra's Needle. Chartreuse and deep chocolate brown patterned leaves are often flushed deep red on the undersides. A very attractive, fuller-bodied begonia. This species does well in a greenhouse or terrarium, but can be acclimated to room humidity.
